Mindy Tan Photography

About

Mindy is a photographer focusing on documentary photographs of people’s lives and environments.
Her training began as a newspaper journalist in Singapore, after she won a scholarship with the Singapore Press Holdings in 2004. Focusing on underprivileged communities and the welfare of foreign workers and the blue-collared, her nose for news helped her bag the prestigious Society of Publishers Asia (SOPA) award for excellence in human rights reporting in 2007.
In 2008, she pursued her camera work as a professional photographer. In keeping with her passion for news, she also worked as a line producer for an international TV news channel.
To date, she has photographed numerous international events such as the Beijing Paralympics, the Youth Olympic Games and the Asia Pacific Conference. She has also been commissioned to produce reports and photographs in cities like Seoul, Shanghai, Mumbai, Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi.
Based in Singapore, her pictures and articles have also been published in The Straits Times, Her World magazine, and featured on the cover of Nikon's Focus magazine and Action Asia magazine.
Earlier this year, she also appeared in a documentary feature on Channel News Asia, where TV viewers followed her exploits in Manila, photographing the disabled.
For her inspiring reportage work, Mindy has been awarded at the International Photography Awards, as well as the US-based Wedding Photojournalist Association.
